Daytime Connection Promises Unprecedented Fan Access to Daytime Stars for a Price
DaytimeConnection.com is a slick, new website promising soap fans unprecedented access to their favorite soap stars through exclusive, original content including Virtual Personal Appearances and its own musical venue, Daytime Unplugged. The Virtual Personal Appearances are modeled after typical "real life" fan events. Daytime Unplugged, hosted by actor/musician Scott Reeves (Steven Lars Webber, GH) will provide a unique venue for daytime stars who are also musicians or singers to showcase their work directly to their fans through professionally-produced exclusive in-studio performances and interviews.
Using state-of-the-art web technology, Daytime Connection offers personalized video greetings from daytime stars. The site advertises a personalized greeting ordered by December 16 will be available in time for the Holidays. Personalized video greetings are $30 each.
Basic site membership is free, but at this time, there is not much free content available yet for “basic members.” “Premium Membership” costs $4.99 per month or $49.99 annually. Premium membership boasts access to exclusive content such as Daytime Unplugged and advance notification of Daytime Connection's upcoming Virtual Appearances. Pre-registration for Virtual Appearances is available to Premium Members only.
Daytime Connection offers a platform that enables attendees who have a microphone and webcam to not only see, but also be seen. Each 1-hour virtual appearance costs $50.00 and is limited to only 50 attendees. Priority registration is given to Premium Members.
Steve Burton (Jason, GH) is slated for Daytime Connection's first Virtual Appearance, but the site provided no date for the event. What goes into a Virtual Appearance? Here's how Daytime Connection describes it:We'll, there's you on your end, and then there's us over here at the Daytime Connection Studio. And of course your favorite star! Add to that recipe professional lighting, sound, and multiple cameras, as well as our whip-smart computer geeks, and you have a beautifully captured broadcast--a real time, vivid encounter with a soap star from the comfort of your own home. Think of your favorite talk show and your favorite guest, but then take away the audience and the commercials. Now let's put it online. And give you the mic.
Daytime Connection is in the process of actively recruiting participation from daytime actors. Stars currently involved with Daytime Connection include: Bradford Anderson, Brandon Beemer, Steve Burton, Derk Cheetwood, Tyler Christopher, Rick Hearst, Thad Luckinbill, Scott Reeves, Chrishell Stause, Kirsten Storms, Kristoff St. John, Greg Vaughan, Walt Wiley, Bree Williamson, and John J. York.
Daytime Connection does not appear to be affiliated with the networks or the soaps themselves. It appears Scott Reeves and Steve Burton may be helping to spearhead the Daytime Connection model for future fan-star interaction. Some of the other stars currently involved notified their Twitter followers of this new opportunity for interaction. There is no indication on the website as to whether all, or even any portion, of the fees associated with the site go to charity. At this point, it appears Daytime Connection is strictly a "for profit" venture. The site and its concept are very new, and email inquiries regarding various operational aspects of the website have thus far gone unanswered.

They must be paying these actors very well. A lot are pimping this site. Just another way for these actors to get richer and the fans to get poorer.
The daytime actors are already pimping they're side businesses on twitter. Why can't they just connect with fans without it costing the fans money :(
