Rumors & Gossips - November 30, 2009

As you’ve seen in this week’s preview of Lucky finding out that Elizabeth and Nikolas are making love, Lucky may end up killing his half brother, Nik. However, Rebecca knows what’s going on with Nik and Liz. Rebecca really wants to tell Lucky about them.

I keep hearing that Lucky ends up shooting Nik or Rebecca. I’m thinking that since Natalie Livingston (Rebecca Shaw) is leaving the show, Lucky may accidentally kill Rebecca instead of Nik. Lets see if my psychic abilities are accurate. ;-) What do you think?

Was Maxie Drugged?

Photobucket Maxie is committed to her job, and Kate instructed Maxie to do whatever she had to do to get Franco's agreement to do a Crimson photo-shoot. However, Maxie is also committed to Spinelli with whom she has miraculously maintained a sexually exclusive relationship for nearly 18 months. Is there any reconcilable explanation for Maxie's "sexploits" with Franco?

Much debate has occurred since Tuesday, 11/24/09 when Maxie Jones left a gallery opening with a stranger she just met and inexplicably had sex with him. Even Maxie, with her checkered sexual past and questionable choices, never pulled a stunt as sexually irresponsible and dangerous as this. What do we "know" thus far about what happened in Franco's loft? We know Maxie was manipulated, even baited by Franco. We also know Franco used Maxie without her consent to model blindfolded for simulated death photos he plans to mail out like Holiday Greeting cards. Could Franco have also drugged Maxie and if so, when, how, and with what? Read on for a theory as shocking as Maxie's behavior.

Maxie drank champagne throughout the evening, and for some champagne may have an aphrodisiacal effect, but champagne alone would not explain Maxie's behavior. Did Franco slip the "date-rape" drug, GHB into Maxie's champagne? Perhaps, but GHB is has a somewhat salty taste, and she may have noticed that in champagne.

At his loft, Franco offered Maxie a clear liquid he called "Poet's Muse." Maxie tasted it, made an ugly face, spit it out, and Franco laughed telling Maxie it tasted like "cough syrup." Is there a drink called "Poet's Muse"...inquiring minds want to know? Although not specifically known by the name "Poet's Muse," Absinthe, a bitter drink made of wormwood and various herbs has been known for Centuries to inspire artistic creativity. With its witty lyrics, "Absinthe makes the heart grow fonder," the movie blockbuster Moulin Rouge reintroduced many to Absinthe as both an artist's muse and aphrodisiac.

Numerous artists and writers living in France in the late 19th and early 20th century were noted absinthe drinkers who featured absinthe in their work. These included Vincent van Gogh, Édouard Manet, Amedeo Modigliani, Arthur Rimbaud, Guy de Maupassant, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Paul Verlaine. Later artists and writers drew from this cultural well, including Pablo Picasso, August Strindberg, Oscar Wilde, and Ernest Hemingway. Aleister Crowley was also known to be a habitual absinthe drinker. Emile Cohl, an early pioneer in the art of animation, presented the effects of the drink in 1919 with the short film, Hasher's delirium.

Referred to as "Green Fairy" because of its greenish color, Absinthe is made from wormwood and boasts incredibly high alcohol content. However, Absinthe can come in several colors, even clear, depending on its herbal concentration and the process by which the Absinthe is made. Clear Absinthe is made without the final coloring step. In small doses, less than half a cup, Absinthe can have an aphrodisiac, liberating effect. In large doses, Absinthe can poison causing death. The effects of absinthe have been described by some as "mind opening." The most commonly reported experience of small dose Absinthe is a "clear-headed" feeling of inebriation — a form of "lucid drunkenness". Physically, Maxie is tiny, and therefore even a small amount of Absinthe combined with the champagne she had been drinking throughout the evening could have led to Maxie shedding her inhibitions and falling prey to Franco's manipulation and sexual advances.

Its extraordinarily high alcohol content and unusual, even bizarre adverse effects, led to a ban on Absinthe in many countries including the U.S. where it was banned in 1912. Nonetheless, Absinthe remained legal, but regulated in most European countries. In recent years, Europe has moved to loosen some of its restrictions on Absinthe, and therefore, Absinthe has experienced a revival in Europe. Since 2007, some Absinthe has been sold in the U.S. as long as it falls within certain regulatory guidelines. The Franco character has spent a great deal of time in Europe, and it is likely he had access to Absinthe and knew very well its effects.

The most likely scenario to explain Maxie's behavior is a combination of Absinthe and DXM (Dextromethorphan), a readily available drug emulating the effects of Ecstasy and most notably, the active ingredient in many cough syrups. DXM can be obtained in a powdered form and mixed with the bitter taste of Absinthe. The "Poet's Muse" tasted like "cough syrup" suggests Franco may have used DXM rather than the more traditional "date rape" drug GBH.

In addition, DXM produces effects similar to GBH in even smaller doses. Effects can be felt 5-20 minutes after ingesting and last 1-1/2 to 3 hours. Effects experienced are very dose dependent. For someone Maxie's size, a dose of DXM as small as a 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon in combination with Absinthe and champagne could have radically altered her perception and compromised her judgment without making her appear "drunk." Examining the video clip below, it is clear Maxie ingested some small amount of the "Poet's Muse." While it is often difficult to gauge time lapsed on soaps, it seems clear Maxie was still playing her own game of "cat and mouse" with Franco until she threw her glass when Franco suggested she leave. That is when her behavior changed and her inhibitions disappeared, i.e. within 5-10 minutes of swallowing the "Poet's Muse."

GH left open a plausible scenario that ties neatly into the facts we can observe about Maxie's behavior. In very small doses, none of these drugs would have knocked Maxie out or even caused her to behave noticeably drunk, but they would have eliminated her inhibitions, heightened her senses, and created a situation in which her judgment could have been compromised.

Is this Really Claudia?

One of my awesome bloggers pointed this out to me. I totally missed this when it aired! It appears to be Claudia lying on the floor in Franco's apartment, saying "Can I get up now?" Then she gets up and puts on a coat, as the answering machine instructs Franco to be nice while he is working with Kate Howard in Port Charles. No trouble like last time. Check it out.

The question is this...was this a door left open for a possible return for Claudia's return in the future? Was that an actress Franco hired to look like Claudia to taunt Michael? Just what was it? Leave your thoughts.

Franco vs. Faison: Men in Black

PhotobucketFaison GHHas Faison (Anders Hove) one of General Hospital's most virulent, vicious villains finally met his match with Franco (James Franco)? Best-known by their last names, Franco who arrived last week and Faison who debuted in 1990 are stunningly similar thus far. Both have a creative flair. Faison hid behind the pseudonym P.K. Sinclair, a reclusive European author. Franco is a reclusive artist obsessed with death scenes who has spent years in Europe. Faison had his signature cigarillo, while Franco seems to favor red M&Ms. Both are devastatingly charming, but lethal. In some of his first scenes, Franco stomped Joey Limbo's trachea killing the already injured man. No slouch in the shocking murder department, Faison shot his own mother, Nanny McTavish who coincidentally was Holly Sutton Scorpio's childhood nanny.

Both men are driven by obsession. Faison was obsessed with Anna Devane, and Franco is reportedly obsessed with Jason Morgan. Faison stalked Felicia Jones to achieve his nefarious objectives, and Franco wasted no time zeroing in on Felicia's daughter, Maxie to achieve his. While head of the DVX, Faison forced WSB Agent Anna Devane to work as a double-agent; thus betraying fellow-agent and husband, Robert Scorpio and breaking up their marriage. Franco seems poised to break up Spinelli and Maxie by blackmailing and using Maxie as a pawn in his plan for Jason. Faison and Franco are both mesmerizing manipulators who research their targets' vulnerabilities and push buttons like a checklist exposing weakness and psychological triggers in their prey. In just one meeting, Franco played Maxie's every fear like a virtuoso to obtain everything he needs, including blackmail pictures, to bend Maxie to his will.

The range of Faison's litany of fiendish evil extends from manufacture of nerve gas to kidnapping and all points of mayhem in between. Comfortable working alone or with others, Faison teamed up with the likes of Helena to kidnap and brainwash Lucky while making it appear Lucky died in a fire. For developing his nerve gas, Faison worked with a cartel of evil-doers. Oddly, Faison seemed at his most sinister working alone. It is too soon to tell whether Franco has connections to other Port Charles residents past or present, but Franco is already exuding a psychologically dangerous and creepy vibe unseen since Faison's last reign of terror in Port Charles.

Recap 11/25/09: Thanksgiving in Port Charles

Lulu and Maxie at their Apartment
Episode opens in Lulu and Maxie's apartment. Lulu is dressed and ready for Thanksgiving Dinner with her Grandmother Lesley, Lucky, Elizabeth, Audrey, Cam, and Jake. Maxie walks out of her bedroom in her housecoat looking rode hard and put up wet. Lulu asks if Maxie succeeded in getting Franco to agree to the Crimson photo-shoot. Maxie acts as if she got the photo-shoot, and Maxie confides to Lulu she slept with Franco. Lulu is taken aback by Maxie’s confession, but Maxie acts as if it were no big deal assuring Lulu, sex with Franco “would not happen again.”

Lulu suggests Spin would not be happy with news of Maxie sleeping with Franco. Maxie explained to Lulu Franco was on her "Free Pass List.” (Recapper’s Note: Please insert all the eye-rolling you can muster for Maxie’s explanation.) According to Maxie, this is a "list" of "special" people with whom it is acceptable to have sex if the opportunity presents itself. Maxie implies sex with someone on the “Free Pass List,” does not invoking implications of "cheating" in an otherwise exclusive relationship. Maxie tells Lulu movie star Anne Hathaway is on Spin’s “Free Pass List.” Lulu still doesn’t think Spin will take this well.

With Maxie treating sex with Franco as a momentary lapse in judgment, Lulu questions, "you are going to tell Spinelli, aren't you?” From the look on Maxie's face and her lack of reply, it seems doubtful Maxie intends on telling Spinelli.

The Jacks’ Household
Carly tells Michael she and Jax need some space, so Carly arranged Thanksgiving without Jax. While Jax spends time with Baby Jocelyn, Carly plans to join Michael and Morgan at Kelly’s with Mike, Sonny, and Bernie. Jax arrives, and Michael and Jax shake hands wishing each other a Happy Thanksgiving. Morgan hugged Jax goodbye and left with Carly and Michael for Kelly’s.

PhotobucketMoments later, Jax is cooing and talking sweetly to Baby Jocelyn when Carly and the boys return announcing her car won't start. Jax tells them he will see if he can get Carly's car started. As Jax leaves, Morgan looks very pleased with himself. Michael begins to catch on and asks Morgan if he sabotaged the car to strand their Mom and Jax together.

Michael explains to Morgan Carly and Jax need space. Morgan doesn't care. Morgan reminds Michael when he wanted their Mom and Dad together he did the same type thing locking Carly and Sonny in the basement. Morgan told Michael, "I am big brother now, and I have to look out for Jocelyn.”

Jax returns shortly with the bad news. He doesn’t know what is wrong with the car, but he didn’t think the car is going to budge. Jax offers Carly and the boys his car to go to Kelly’s, and they head out the door again. Almost immediately, Carly and the boys return announcing to Jax his car would not start either! Carly takes all this as a sign for them to stay where they are, and Carly turns her attention to figuring out what they would have for dinner.

Alexis’ House
Diane arrives at Alexis' house unannounced with a sweet potato casserole and a car trunk-load of wine. Alexis is glad to see Diane, but she's also a bit confused. Alexis asks Diane if she invited her for dinner. Alexis tells Diane she invited her last year, but Diane declined. Wistfully, Diane explains to Alexis last year, she didn't need Thanksgiving dinner she had Max, and they spent the Holiday in bed.
PhotobucketAdorably dressed with hair in curls little Molly enters just in time to hear Diane extol her previous Thanksgiving in bed with Max. Diane apologizes, but Molly says since she is 11 years old, it's OK for Diane to share about her romantic love-making with Max. Alexis explains to Diane she is taking the girls to the Country Club for Thanksgiving and invites Diane to accompany them. Quickly Molly interjects telling Diane they have plans maybe another time like Christmas. Alexis is appalled at Molly's lack of hospitality.

Alexis excuses herself to finish getting ready, and Molly gives Diane a $1 retainer to hire her explaining she needs attorney/client privilege for what she is about to tell Diane. Molly explains that since Alexis has such bad taste in men, she, Kristina, and Sam are taking the initiative to set Alexis up with the “perfect man" for Thanksgiving. Diane gives Molly back her $1 telling Molly for Alexis and love "you get my service pro bono."

As Alexis re-enters the room Diane tells Molly she doesn't want to miss this and asks if she can come along. As an increasingly curious Alexis stands by, Molly explains to Diane she can’t invite her because they were invited as guests in someone else’s home. To Alexis' complete surprise, Molly tells her they accepted. Diane gets a phone call and makes a work excuse to leave saying to a thoroughly perplexed Alexis, "I am so happy for you."

The No-Name Restaurant – Sonny’s Mob HQ
Meanwhile Sonny called Milo at the No-Name restaurant, Sonny's new mob headquarters growling to Milo about being tired of Max moping around love-sick missing Diane and Diane spending so much time in Philly. Sonny instructed Milo to get Max and Diane back together. Milo enlists Spinelli’s assistance. Max arrives, grumpily greeting Spin and Milo, before retiring to Sonny’s restaurant office to do some work.

Expecting to find Sonny in need of her legal services, Diane arrives at the No-Name, where she is greeted by Milo and Spin. Spin advises Diane she was called there on a most urgent matter concerning Max. Spin tells her since Max's accident, he has been unable to "perform.” Diane thinks it means Max can’t “perform” sexually, which was precisely Spinelli’s implication.

Photobucket
Diane rushes in to the office to check on her poor, but remarkably flexible big teddy bear, Max. Concerned, Diane tells Max that Milo and Spin told her about his “performance” problem. Max asks why she would you listen to them. Diane replied, “They told me you missed me.” Max drops his pants and replies, “I do miss you.” Delighted, Diane responds, “today of all days I give thanks for you.”

The Docks – Ethan and Kristina
PhotobucketEthan runs into Kristina who is walking on the docks carrying some pumpkin cookies. Kristina asks Ethan if they have Thanksgiving in Australia. Ethan explains Australia does have Thanksgiving, but it is in March. Kristina asks if Ethan had plans implying he could accompany her to dinner with her family if he didn’t. Ethan replied he didn’t have plans but perhaps he would take a little time to visit his own family.

The Scorpio-Drake Home
Sam arrives as Robin is re-arranging her living room with table and chairs preparing for a huge Thanksgiving Dinner. Sam tells Robin she feels a little uncertain about their secret plan to push Mac and Alexis together. Robin assures Sam they are not “pushing anything”; they are merely putting two consenting adults in one room. Robin tells Sam everyone noticed chemistry between Mac and Alexis at Spixie’s non-wedding. Robin and Sam discuss what Alexis and Mac have in common. Patrick enters busily setting up the table and chairs comments he thinks they are inviting catastrophe, but he‘s along for the ride.
\PhotobucketPhotobucketMac arrives with beer in hand ready to watch some football. Mac sees the dining table and chairs set up where he planned to watch football, and he wants to know what happened to the couch. Patrick tells Mac they can watch football in the smaller den. Mac complains there’s no hi-def in the den. When Sam walks past Mac, he asks, “Jason isn't coming, is he?”

Mac continues to grouse about already having to eat Thanksgiving with Spinelli because of Maxie, making it clear that was bad enough without throwing Jason in as well. Mac begins asking Sam about her statement in Claudia’s disappearance. Robin tells Mac no police work today. It’s Thanksgiving, and Sam is their guest. A little while later, Mac announces he’s going over to the police station. Robin tells Mac in no uncertain terms, if he leaves, it would be over her dead body. Mac shuts up.

PhotobucketMatt surprises his hosts arriving for dinner with Patrick’s ex-college girlfriend, Lisa. They join Patrick and Mac watching football in the den. Mac and Matt chat about sports while Lisa tells Patrick she is excited to meet Emma and expresses amazement Patrick has turned into a doting dad.

Alexis, Molly, and Kristina arrive at Scrubs’ house. Mac tries to leave again, and Robin grabs him. Mac asks Patrick why Alexis is there for dinner. Patrick pleads “The Fifth”. Mac and Alexis realize they were lured into Thanksgiving Dinner together.

The Davis girls introduce themselves to Lisa and briefly explain why they want to set up Alexis with Mac. They tell Lisa a little about their Mom’s love life:
Kristina: My dad's a mobster.

Molly: My dad's a mob lawyer.

Sam: I don't know who my dad is.

Patrick: and Jerry was a terrorist.
Mac and Alexis tell the girls, “we know what you are up to, and it won't work.”

Maxie is on the couch crying having flashbacks of sex with Franco. Spinelli thinks Maxie has the flu, and he arrives with Turkey Soup and tissues.

The Quartermaine Mansion

PhotobucketThe Q's including Monica, Tracy, Edward, and Rebecca are sitting around the living room. Edward instructs Alice to order pizza. Luke pops in. Tracy asks Luke if Bobbie ran out of liquor since she thought Luke would be celebrating Thanksgiving at Bobbie’s. Luke replied Bobbie would never have a dry Holiday but Bobbie was in Seattle visiting Lucas. Luke also explained Lucky and Liz were spending the Holiday with the rest of his family, but he wasn’t interested in that, so he thought he would hang with his “Spanky Buns” and the Q’s. Alice announces Ethan’s arrival. Tracy snarks a bit, but Edward points out Ethan helped save his life at the carnival, and Ethan would always be welcome in his home. Lulu also stops by.

While everyone at the Q's grabs pizza, Tracy is glad to see Ethan and Luke spending their first Thanksgiving together. Rebecca asks Monica how the Q Pizza tradition started. Edward tells Rebecca they also have another tradition, and he starts singing "We Gather Together" as the others exchange looks and giggle, but decline to join Edward singing. Edward growls, “come on people” trying to get them to sing, as they rush out of room.

GH ends with an instrumental of “We Gather Together” and a montage of:

Carly, Jax, and the kids eating junk food;

Diane, Max, and Milo toasting to Thanksgiving wishing;

Spin giving Maxie soup;

Scrubs and guests joining hands around the table as Little Emma sits on Robin’s lap;

And, the Q’s look into the camera and wish us all HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

General Hospital RUMORS and SPOILERS:Lots of Goodies! 11.26.9

I’m worried…about Spinelli and Maxie! Now we all know this pretty-boy Franco didn’t just want to get into Maxie’s pants. This guy is B.A.D. to the bone. Will he hold this over Maxie’s head in some sicko kinda way? One RUMOR says Franco will agree to the photoshoot as long as Lulu is with him instead of Maxie. The dude is creepy, ok? When Maxie tries to put the One Night Stand behind her, photos of her show up all over town! Clues lead Spinelli to Franco’s apartment. Will this put an end to Maxie and Spinelli?

A piece of cryptic art is delivered to Jason. Meanwhile, Jason has settled in waiting mode for Franco. Down the road, Franco has second thoughts about destroying Jason.

Now that Johnny knows what Dante is up to, the pressure will certainly build for Dante. He now has Johnny AND Jax breathing down his neck to bust Sonny. When Jax and Johnny get Dante to take a huge risk, Olivia if furious! Dominic asks Sonny one too many questions about Claudia’s death leaving Sonny suspicious. Sonny decides it’s time to find out who the dishonest person is in his organization. Will he set a trap for his son, Dante?

Speaking of Dante, I’m hearing coming up soon Dante and Lulu will have a little S.E.X.!

How can Dante help Jason with Franco without revealing the truth about him being a cop? I’m sure he’ll find a creative way. Also coming, Jax gives Dominic what he needs to arrest Sonny.

Michael continues to act out wanting to join daddy’s mob. Carly is bothered by Michael’s behavior. Michael starts skipping school and mouthing off to the cops, specifically Lucky? Oops…Will Lucky become suspicious of Michael? Michael thinks he can use his status as Sonny’s son to make people afraid of him.

Meanwhile, Jason is not happy about Michael’s actions…especially knowing Franco is aware Michael killed Claudia.

As I mentioned the other day, we’ll see Olivia and Sonny kiss coming soon. Now I’m hearing the two of them almost go too far! Olivia will most certainly regret the kiss. Also, Kate dishes to Sonny telling him Olivia has never stopped loving him.

Rumors are beginning to float around about a Mac and Alexis pairing. Wubs.net is reporting an actual “smooch” will be coming! Here’s what happens. Come December, Karaoke will hit PC once again. Alexis ends up on stage with Mac. They end their song with a kiss. Will it mean anything? We’ll have to wait and see.

So what do you think Lisa is up to? I wonder if there’s a kid in the picture…there are RUMORS out there she may have a son with Patrick hidden out. Was she feeling Patrick’s daddy skills out at Thanksgiving when she was asking him parenting questions?

Will Liz and Lucky go through with their marriage? There’s a few RUMORS floating around saying Liz may bolt OR Lucky suggest they call off the engagement. One RUMOR says Liz proposes to Lucky again after looking at old photos. Soon, we MAY see Liz breakdown and confess to Robin what she and Nik have been up to. Also coming, Nikolas informs Rebecca he is in love with another woman and confesses he will never love her. Soon after, Rebecca finds Nikolas and Liz making love. Rebecca SHOULD exit the show before she has a chance to tell what she knows about the affair. I’m not sure if this is of her own free will or not. Remember, there’s a RUMOR that she is shot by Lucky to save Liz and Nik. Will the timeline be related? Another RUMOR floating around says Lucky never finds out about Nik and Liz (but remember earlier we heard he does).

General Hospital Gossip and Addiction - November 25, 2009

Hi GH Addicts,

I’m Leigh-Anne and I’m one of the new bloggers who is helping our wonderful friend Robin on GHOFS! I am happy that I can send you some rumors and gossips at GHOFS site.

I’ve been watching General Hospital for about 32 years. That is when Luke and Laura first showed up. My baby-sitter (one of my best friends now) is the one who introduced me to watching GH. Shame on her! LOL Since then, I can’t stop watching it. Yep, I’m an addict. LOL

For now, I heard that Claudia is alive, pregnant and living in paradise, off in some island. I don’t know how and who the father is. I’m guessing Franco since he’s after Jason. We‘ll see in the future. BTW, Franco is getting on my nerves big time! Hmm, will Spinelli find out that Maxie cheated on him? That’s it for now.

Happy Thanksgiving to y’all! Don’t gobble too much! ;-)

General Hospital Daily Recap 11/24/09

Hi Everyone!

Here's a quick rundown of the highlights from yesterday's episode if you missed it! Please note that I did miss the first 10 mins of the show.

Lucky visits Anthony Z in prison and they talk about the shootout. AZ asks him who he has fingered for the shooter and Lucky mentions Johnny’s name. AZ reminds Lucky that he too has a family and that he ought to think about how far he would go to protect them. He also says that he’s sure that Luke doesn’t have clean hands in the whole affair.

Sonny brings Olivia home and she is surprised when Johnny is there waiting for her. Then leaves with strict instructions that Johnny not hurt her and that he shows Olivia respect she deserves. After he’s gone, Johnny and Olivia talk more about Dante/Dominic. (If you’ve seen or read the last few recaps, or watched the last few episodes…it’s really more of the same conversation they’ve already had about him)

Lulu and Dominic talk about Franco's art. Dominic says it's not art; but garbage Franco and Maxie talk about his art and his style. Maxie thinks he should have been a rock star, since he’s so misguided. Then he tells her “the secret to life” and then he kisses her. (at this point there was something about taking what you want….but I was too busy watching this uber hot kiss to pay attention!) Maxie accuses him of trying get her drunk and reminds him that she has a boyfriend. He says he doubts that it's the love of her life and wonders if she's ready to give up everything she could have. She tells him that she does love her boyfriend and she's not ready to do anything to lose what she has. He says fine, he'll take her home or back to the art gallery. Maxie gets mad and tells him she'll leave when she's ready. Passion ensues and afterwards he takes her home. It's not until he's driven off that she realizes that she hasn't secured him for the Crimson photo shoot.
Jason, Sam and Spinelli continue to talk about the homeless guy and the Franco wave. Spinelli begs to leave to return to the art gallery for fear that Maxie will think that he has abandoned the security detail. After he leaves, Jason tells Sam what happened at the shootout. He's convinced that the homeless guy and Franco are indeed one in the same. He tells Sam that he thinks that Franco wanted him to know that he was there. Sam reminds him that that means that Franco can tie him to the crime scene, leaving Jason to wonder what to do about that.
Lucky is waiting for Sonny when he gets home and tells him the truth about how Joey Limbo died and he thinks that Sonny may have some thoughts about how the body was intentionally posed afterwards. Lucky tells Sonny that he pulled Limbo's jacket and there was no mention of his name anywhere. He does know that his Dad was a part of Limbo's past and tells Sonny he remembers Limbo from his Luke's Frank Smith Days. Lucky wants to know if Luke had an involvement in the ambush; and Sonny assures him that he didn't. They go on to have a pretty lengthy discussion about why Lucky became a cop and how hard it had to be for Luke. Lucky tells him that he did it to stop the chian of sins so that his children could grom up with a better example. Sonny comments that it must make Luke proud even if it breaks his heart. Later Dominic arrives at Sonny's and Sonny tells him that he hates having to keep his guard up around Lucky, given their history and the history that he has with Luke. He also tells him that he hopes like crazy that none of his children ever grow up to be cops.

General Hospital Daily Recap: 11/23/09

Hi Everyone!

I'm doing yesterday's recap, this morning while watching GH on Soapnet. I'm trying to do it real time for you...hopefully. I tried to recap as much as I could for you.

Jason looks fantastic in his suit and Sam agrees! They share a nice moment before heading out to the art show. Lucky shows up at the penthouse just as they are leaving. Sam asks Lucky to not hold them up because the art show is important to her. Lucky wants to question Jason about the shooting. Jason comments that there is nothing unusual about that; but Lucky says that this time the usual pieces just aren't adding up. Lucky tells Jason the truth about how Joey Limbo died. Jason doesn't say anything. Lucky tells him that if he knows anything, which he knows he does, he needs to tell them. He reminds Jason that he has is cell number and then he leaves.

Dominic shows up at Lulu's and asks her if she wants to go the art show. She quickly figures out that he needs an alibi. He tries to act innocent and talks to her about just wanting to expand his cultural horizons; but she's not buying it.

Olivia prays on the couch looking for guidance as to what to do about Dominic. She doesn't know whether to tell Sonny he's is son before Johnny tells her he's a cop. Sonny knocks on her door and asks her to the art gallery opening. Olivia knows something else is going on and Sonny tells her the truth about needing help making a good impression in town after the shootout. He tells her that Johnny is fine and so is Dominic. She becomes alarmed at the mention of Dominic's name; he assures her that he saved his life. She agrees to go the art show; but that she won't lie to the police if asked any questions.

Maxie thinks Franco is a drunk bum who's invaded the art show. She's no idea he is Franco. Soon enough she becgins to wonder if he perhaps is the artist. Still, she asks him to prove who he is. When he spray paints a peace sign on one of the walls in the exhibit, she is moritified. Luke walks in and paints a tic tac toe board. Luke and Franco chat about his work. Franco comments that violence sells. Luke tells him that he can sell whatever he wants;but he knows that Franco is not familiar at all with real violence. Max and Milo come in and comment about how the "murder scene" happened.

Dominic becomes confused about the pictures that he sees in the art gallery and comments that the work looks familiar to him.

(At this point, everyone comes to the art show and they all comment about Franco's unique art style. Lots of chatter ....).

Sonny comes to see the exhibit and comments that he likes the exhibit. Franco asks him why and he says because it looks real. They talk about the amount of research that goes into something like that. Sonny tells him to be careful that the lines between what's real and not real don't get crossed.

Jason and Sam come in. Franco is anxious for Maxie to introduce him to Jason. Maxie tries to discourage him; but he's adament. Jason doesn't understand why and refuses. Franco takes Maxie and they leave. As they are leaving, he waves to Jason, the same way he did when he left the shootout. Jason tells Spinelli they leave right away. They go back to the penthouse and Jason asks Spinelli to pull up the camera footage from the art gallery. He sees the wave again and comments that Franco waves to him the same way the bum at the shoot out did.

Sonny and Luke talk about the shootout. Luke thinks that Sonny started the ambush. Sonny assures him that it was the other way around, that he really did go there looking for a a peaceful solution. Luke agrees then that Sonny did what he had to do. He reminds him also though that they are friends and he is neutral and not to use him as a foot soldier.

Franco and Maxie are in the back of a limo and he asks her to put on a blindfold. She doesn't much like the idea; but he tells her that he can't reveal the secret of where is art studio is. When she continues to refuse to put it on, he has the car stopped and tells her to "have a nice career" Panicked, she finally agrees to let him put it on her. They arrive at the studio and he still won't take off the blindfold. He encourages her to use her other senses to explore what's around her.
He tells her he can take it off;but she doesn't. She makes sure that he knows that important people will not be happy if anything happens to her. Franco assures he that he's not going to hurt her and then he poses her on the floor and takes a picture of her lying in a chalk outline.

(oops missed the continuation of the scene after the commercial)

Maxie tells him that it was cruel to make her play a dead body in light of the fact that her sister was murdered. He apologizes for being insensitive. She admits that the studio is actually quite amazing now that she can see it. She turns the tables on him and makes him put on the blind fold.

General Hospital RUMORS & SPOILERS - November 23

Did General Hospital have a complete change in mind for the Spencer’s when bringing back Jonathan Jackson? I’m hearing the Luke and Lucky dynamic is being thoroughly thought out (along with the Lucky and Liz dynamic too). So, does it surprise anyone to learn Genie Francis just may be on her way back in as Laura?

Scott Reeves joins General Hospital on December 9 as the new Chief of Staff! Wonder what’s happening to Monica. Isn’t she the COS right now? Anyway, this handsome doc MAY just somehow become involved in the crazy love triangle with Liz, Lucky and Nik!

I loved it when Franco waved at Jason during the shootout on Friday. Word is, Jason will recognize that wave from somewhere.

I’m hearing there will be trouble ahead for Maxie and Spinelli. We SHOULD see Maxie hookin’ up with badboy Franco the night of the gallery opening. Maxie then proceeds to confesses to Lulu about her ONS. No news as to how Spin will react, or if he finds out.

So, what’s up with that new opening sequence we’ve been promised for umpteen years! One insider says, “Yes, it’s coming”. I’ve also heard some scenes have been shot for the new opening. Whether it’s a complete re-do or just a little updating, I don’t know. AND, I will say…we’ve been down this road before.

This week, Robin and two of Alexis’ kids try to fix up Mac and Alexis. I don’t see these two actually ending up together. But, we should see more about how uptight Alexis is. It has become more prominent since the her daughters have SORASED, don’t ya think?

Keifer becomes jealous of Ethan and Kristina’s friendship (Isn’t Ethan a little old for Kristina, just sayin’) Kristina will figure out she is in way over her head with Keifer’s violent outrages. Who will she ask for help?

Also coming up, we’ll see Sonny and Olivia cooking together at Kellys.

We may find out Sam was helped out by Franco in her past.

How will Molly interact will Franco? RUMORS say it's coming. Those little ones (Molly and Morgan) sure do get around Port Charles!

Check back soon for more SPOILERS & RUMORS!

Now, for a look at the actual Nielson Ratings excerpted below with my annotations in italics.

Ratings For The Week of 11/9/09

Numbers are based on Live+Same Day ratings
(Compared to Last Week/Compared to Last Year)

Total Viewers

1. Y&R 4,915,000 (+81,000/+39,000) More than 2 million more total viewers than GH this week and every week for the past several years.

2. B&B 3,276,000 (+134,000/-205,000)

3. DAYS 3,055,000 (+189,000/+385,000) DOOL boasts the biggest gain in total viewership from same time last year. Contrary to dire predictions, since jettisoning some of their long-time "super-couples" & fan favs like John & Marlena, DOOL has thrived. Unlike any other soap, DOOL is up more nearly 400,000 viewers this week in contrast to same time last year. Realistically, DOOL could overtake B&B at anytime for the number 2 slot.

4. GH 2,818,000 (+36,000/-71,000) Only 65,000 total viewers separate GH from AMC who just fired their Head Writer, Chuck Pratt.

5. AMC 2,753,000 (+177,000/+70,000)  More than 177,000 more viewers than prior week & 70,000 more than same time last year. Compared to GH with only 36,000 viewers from the previous week and a net loss of 71,000 viewers from same time last year.

6. OLTL 2,692,000 (+242,000/-220,000)

7. ATWT 2,452,000 (-96,000/-83,000)

Women 18-49 Viewers (The Women 18-34 sub-category of this larger Women 18-49 demo is the category touted by the ABC Press Release for its outstanding performance.)

1. Y&R 1,139,000 (+16,000/+69,000)
2. GH 976,000 (+57,000/-17,000) I suppose, it is good GH is only DOWN 17,000 from same period last year in comparison to both Y&R and DOOL, both of which have gained in this demo from same time last year.
3. DAYS 912,000 (+43,000/+81,000)
4. OLTL 806,000 (+84,000/-160,000)
5. AMC 752,000 (+51,000/-107,000)
6. B&B 717,000 (+13,000/-102,000)
7. ATWT 614,000 (-10,000/-34,000)

Women 18-34 Rating
1. GH 1.2/7 (+.1/+.1)
2. DAYS 1.1/7 (+.1/same)
2. Y&R 1.1/7 (same/+.2)
4. AMC 0.9/6 (same/same)
4. OLTL 0.9/6 (same/same)
6. B&B 0.7/4 (same/same)
7. ATWT 0.6/3 (same/same)

*Above is the demo of which ABC seems so proud. Considering the broader Women 18-49 demo, it appears GH does slightly better among Women 18-34 than among Women 35-49. I have never understood the focus on the younger 18-34 demo in this category. Half of the women in the 18-34 demo, i.e. those from 18-25 are just out of high school or college and settling in to their first job, struggling to pay rent, or saving for a home, etc. In the current economic environment, many in this demo are struggling to obtain credit for homes, cars, etc. Their disposable income is limited. In contrast, from an advertisers' perspective, women in the older sector of this demo (35-49) would likely be out of school, working, perhaps raising a family, and therefore have more money to spend on a larger variety of products and services they need for home and family. Regardless, the economy or their age, everyone from every demo (except perhaps Girls 12-17) buys food, paper products, personal hygiene, and cleaning supplies. Therefore, I don't understand the greater emphasis on the Women 18-34 demo.

Final Thoughts:

Notwithstading ABC's irrationally exuberant press release, less than 400,000 viewers separate GH from the lowest-rated soap on television. In contrast, more than 2 MILLION viewers separate GH from the highest-rated Y&R.

With the lone exception of CBS's ATWT, all of ABC's line-up is trails BEHIND both CBS & NBC in total viewership

GH actually lost viewers relative to same time last year and had the smallest weekly gain of all soaps except ATWT. DOOL is wiping the floor with GH, which just a year ago would have been unthinkable. Even AMC is gaining quickly on GH, and AMC has just fired their Head Writer, and simultaneously faces the upheaval of cross-country relocation, and loss of key characters. Yet, AMC is the only ABC soap posting a net gain of viewers this week over same time last year.

GH did not hit the 3 million viewer mark a single day last week; in fact OLTL is the only ABC soap to exceed 3 million viewers on even a single day last week.

Perhaps my inital "irrationally exuberant" characterization is too restrained for the ABC Press Release. Those folks in the Disney-ABC Public Relations department deserve an enthusiastic "Huzzah" for their enormous cajones in trying to spin a silk purse out of this sow's ear. Huzzah!

Musical Soap Recaps?

Filling the cavernous void left by ex-Saturday Night Live vocalist Adam Sandler, Paul Beckman steps into the breach with his daily General Hospital-inspired musical stylings. If you miss the haunting refrain of Sandler's freestyle hit, Chopping Broccoli, Vancouver's Paul Beckman, a.k.a. Palu Rainbow Song, will bring a smile to your lips or at least a roll to your eyes. Self-proclaimed yogi and Planetary Healer, Palu is a soap fan who began singing real-time "recaps" of his favorite soaps last January and has since recorded more than 4,000 of these improvisational ditties.

In Friday's episode, inspiring such freestyle titles as Goodbye Joey Limbo, Poor Olivia Your Secret's Out Now, and Love on the Side, a personal favorite is inspired by Maxie and entitled Ring It Down A Couple Notches. Don't miss the improv scatting at the end.

Although Palu's primary areas of concentration are DOOL and Y&R, in honor of James Franco's GH visit, Palu is committed to recording ten new one to two minute songs for each episode of GH. According to the Toronto Edition of The Star.com,

Palu's been doing freestyle singing for years – he once sang for five hours straight – and hopes to one day make money off it. But, it's Beckman's soap opera recaps that have garnered him a whole new set of fans. He's become so popular that he gets hundreds of visitors every day eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Palu performs and records his songs on the spot as General Hospital plays in the background. In his interview with The Star.com, Palu revealed
he has autism and his mind moves slowly on most things. But when he watches soap operas and makes up verse, his mind can quickly flip from one emotion to another, he said like sands through the hourglass, he produces 50 to 100 songs a day.

He said he decided to use soap operas as his inspiration after years of honing his talent as a freestyle singer – someone who just makes up songs from observing the surrounding environment. Soap operas were a way to keep him in practice because there was always so much going on.
