Soaps in Depth is reporting on Twitter Drew Garrett is being replaced as Michael Corinthos, III. Beginning April 20, the pivotal role of Michael Corinthos will be played by Chad Duell who has appeared on Disney Channel favorites Wizards of Waverly Place as Ronald Longcape, Jr, and The Suite Life on Deck where he played Holden.

No word on why Garrett is being recast, but ABC "thanks him for his time, and wishes him well" on his future endeavors. Can Franco Save Sonny & Michael?

Photobucket

Rarely do we see Jason Morgan second guess himself or regret his actions; however, recently, Jason has expressed remorse several times for his handling of the situation surrounding Claudia’s death. Specifically, Jason has lamented his part in the destruction of all evidence that could have actually demonstrated Michael acted justifiably, reasonably, and in defense of his mother and infant sister.

As thorough as Jason and his clean-up crew were on the night Claudia died, there is still physical evidence surrounding Claudia’s death that was not burned, buried, or destroyed. Franco took contemporaneous pictures of the scene at the cabin, and these pictures could support Michael’s claim of self-defense. In addition, the pictures could get Sonny off the hook for murder, but they could also expose Sonny’s perjurious claim about killing Claudia in self-defense.

What could Franco’s pictures prove? First, Franco’s pictures could establish a shorter window of time as to Claudia’s precise time of death. Franco’s pictures would more accurately pinpoint time of death than even Claudia’s Autopsy Report. This would aid in corroborating Michael’s story and disproving the Prosecution’s theory of when Sonny arrived upon the scene. The Franco photos could even provide alibis for Sonny in the form of both Olivia and Jax. Obviously, the pictures were taken immediately after Claudia’s death, and Carly is pictured at the scene. The time Carly arrived at the hospital would be documented by the hospital, and given Carly’s presence in the picture, it would be clear, Claudia’s time of death preceded the time of Carly’s admission to the hospital.

Franco’s photos could also establish the position of the principals and provide general information about the entire crime scene. Jason burned the cabin to the ground, and to this point, the police have had no opportunity to examine the crime scene at all. Franco’s pictures could provide some opportunity for police and forensic examination of the crime scene. The pictures would demonstrate the lack of electricity and limited lighting from lantern and fireplace.

Pictures can also help to provide relational evidence. Photogrammetry is a procedure used to determine the geometrical properties of an object based on photographic images. Until recently, at least two photographs were required to reconstruct a crime scene; however, with recent development of new techniques in photogrammetry, important crime scene measurements can be taken from a single photograph. For example, the location of Claudia’s body and the baby basket in the picture would show her close proximity to the door when Michael entered. This corroborates Michael’s story that Claudia was on her way out the door with his infant sister when he arrived.

Franco’s photos also provide the only evidence in existence showing the blunt instrument/weapon used to kill Claudia. A picture of the ax handle in proximity to Claudia’s body would comport with findings of Claudia’s Autopsy Report that identified cause of death as blunt force trauma to the head. Careful examination and enlargement of the picture(s) could show bloodstains and blood spatter. Specialized Blood Pattern Analysis (BPA) could scientifically corroborate or reject plausible versus implausible scenarios as to what actually occurred at a crime scene. BPA can answer a variety of questions, including:

• What type of weapon caused the bloodstains present?
• How many times was the victim struck?
• Where was the victim at the time the injuries?
• Where was the assailant during and following the assault?
• Is the bloodstain evidence consistent with the autopsy findings?

With technological advancement in virtual reality modeling, a single, two-dimensional photo can be utilized to reconstruct a 3-D, interactive crime scene that can be visualized from any vantage point. With all the obstruction of justice and destruction of evidence, ironically psycho Franco’s pictures may be the best evidence to keep Sonny out of jail and clear Michael. Surely, sooner or later, this will occur to Jason, Carly, Sonny, Sam, Spinelli, or someone who knows of these photos’ existence.

Why Sonny Won’t Be Rocking an Orange Jumpsuit

In honor of Sonny's upcoming trial, I have decided to do a series examining a variety of legal and evidentiary issues that may be raised. This is the first in the series, and it examines the potential evidence against Sonny.

If You Didn’t Do the Crime, You Shouldn’t Do the Time
If you have been fantasizing about Crimson’s next fashion show featuring Sonny Corinthos working the catwalk rocking a fitted, orange jumpsuit, forget it. Many fans are so angry, frustrated, and annoyed with Sonny they just want him to pay for something…anything, but the dimpled Don won’t be bunking with former father-in-law Anthony Zacharra at Club Fed anytime soon. Sonny’s upcoming trial is confined only to Claudia’s death, i.e. the one thing Sonny really did not do.

Obviously, GH takes “poetic license” with legal storylines. For example, a jury in a criminal trial is not chock full of the Defendant or Prosecutor’s friends and family. In the case of someone as high profile as Sonny, in all likelihood, the venue may have been changed and his trial conducted in another town, where a more objective jury pool might be available. Nevertheless, even with over-the-top daytime drama, there are some interesting facets to examine, and truthfully, GH has done a fascinating job of weaving the fabric of the The People vs. Sonny Corinthos.

Following is a step-by-step legal guide for understanding the strategies of both the perky, stalkerish federal prosecutor, Claire Walsh and the dynamic legal duo of Diane and Alexis.

The Evidence:

1. Threats Sonny made during public fight with Claudia at the Metro-Court
Prosecution: will argue Sonny’s tirade and threats at Claudia’s Birthday Party form the basis of his motive to murder Claudia for the botched hit that left Michael comatose for a year. The Prosecution will argue Claudia was dead within hours of Sonny’s direct threats on her life.

Defense: will counter arguing this is not Sonny’s “first trip to the rodeo,” and if Sonny genuinely intended to murder Claudia, he would not have publicly threatened her thereby telegraphing his motive and intent publicly.

2. Maxie’s Testimony about seeing Sonny coming home wearing a shirt with a bloody handprint
Prosecution: will use Maxie’s testimony to lay the foundation for the Prosecution’s primary piece of circumstantial evidence, the ashes of a bloody, burned shirt Dante removed from Sonny’s fireplace. Maxie’s testimony could also be used to help establish a time-frame for Claudia’s death which presumably would be consistent with Claudia’s Autopsy Report.

Defense: will attack Maxie’s testimony from several standpoints - First, the Defense will point out Maxie’s problems with visibility in a blinding rainstorm, in the middle of the night, with bright car lights shining in her face. Next, the Defense will object to any characterization of the “stain” on Sonny’s shirt being blood. Obviously from Maxie’s vantage point, there is no way she could have identified one type of stain from another, and therefore, the Defense will be careful to object to any attempt on the part of the Prosecution to elicit testimony from Maxie suggesting the stain was blood. The Prosecution will attempt to infer the stained shirt Maxie saw is the same shirt later burned and from which ashes were analyzed and Claudia’s blood discovered. The best the Prosecution can realistically do is attempt to make this inference. It is doubtful even a fashionista, like Maxie, could positively identify the precise type of shirt Sonny was wearing from her brief glimpse.

3. Ashes of Bloody, Burned Shirt Alleged Taken from Sonny’s Fireplace
Prosecution: This is really the centerpiece of the Prosecution’s case against Sonny. The alleged ashes of Sonny’s bloody shirt helped form the “probable cause” upon which the warrant for Sonny was eventually issued. (It was this warrant Dante was attempting to serve when he was shot.) Dante collected this evidence, and the Prosecution will call him to the stand to testify about it.

Defense: The Defense strategy would be to attack the “chain of custody” of this evidence. This includes careful examination of all steps in the process from initial collection to admission of the evidence in court. Any departure from the appropriate protocol for handling evidence can lead to an attack on the integrity of the evidence. The Defense may also try to attack Dante’s credibility as a witness by making it seem as if he has an “ax to grind” or a bias against Sonny. The Defense may even attack Dante’s credibility on the basis of his firing from the NYPD.

4. Testimony of Jax and Olivia regarding the phone conversation they heard at Sonny’s on the night of Claudia’s death
Prosecution: will attempt to use Jax and Olivia’s testimony to suggest they witnessed Sonny receive a phone call believed to be providing Sonny information as to Claudia’s whereabouts. Prosecution would use their testimony to suggest following this phone call, Sonny quickly left his house. The inference would be as soon as Sonny received a call providing Claudia’s location, he left, presumably to kill Claudia.

Defense: would point out Jax and Olivia heard only Sonny’s side of the phone conversation. The Defense would object to nearly all of Jax and Olivia’s testimony regarding the conversation as Hearsay and therefore, excluded from evidence. For example, neither Jax, nor Olivia knows first- hand who was on the other end of the phone call to Sonny. Therefore, if either of them testifies it was Jason calling Sonny to tell him Claudia’s location, the Defense would object because Jax and Olivia only know who Sonny SAID was on the phone, and they have no idea WHAT was said on the other end of the phone conversation. The Defense will also attempt to impune Jax and Olivia’s credibility.

5. Testimony of Jason and Sam
Prosecution: may call Jason and/or Sam as hostile witnesses to see if either might testify to anything that may help prove Sonny’s whereabouts at the time of Claudia’s death

Defense: Jason and Sam both can simply and truthfully testify they didn’t see Claudia killed, and Sonny was not present when they located Carly and her newborn. In addition, the Defense will advise Jason to simply plead his 5th Amendment Right against self-incrimination if issues arise regarding burning the cabin, destroying evidence, or disposing of Claudia’s body.

6. Carly’s Testimony
Prosecution: The Prosecution will probably not call Carly to testify, but if the Defense calls Carly to testify, the Prosecution will attempt to discredit her testimony and attack her credibility and believability.

Defense: Since Sonny insists on trying to sell the jury that he accidentally killed Claudia while trying to protect Carly and her baby, the Defense may call Carly to testify. If limited to these topics, Carly can truthfully testify Claudia kidnapped her at gunpoint, threatened her life, acted erratically, and tried to steal her newborn. That limited testimony could actually support and bolster Sonny’s story that he killed Claudia in defense of Carly and Josslyn. (Carly has the potential to be a loose cannon on cross-examination by the Prosecution. If I were counsel for the Defense, I would not call Carly as a witness unless it was absolutely a last resort.)

7. Michael’s Testimony
Prosecution: Based on the conversation Dante overheard between Sonny and Michael at the morgue after Claudia’s body was recovered, the Prosecution wants to question Michael because they believe he has information about Claudia’s death. Specifically, the Prosecution believes Michael may have been present when Claudia died (which of course he was). The Prosecution mistakenly believes Michael witnessed Sonny kill Claudia.

Defense: The Defense can also simply instruct Michael to answer ONLY the question asked. For example, if the Prosecution asks Michael whether he saw Sonny kill Claudia, he can truthfully answer “No,” and leave it at that. If Michael branches out and “confesses” to killing Claudia, the Defense will point out Michael is brain-damaged with uncontrollable anger-issues and a history of confessing to things he didn’t do. The Defense can also advise Michael to plead the 5th Amendment to protect him from answering any questions that might incriminate him in any way, including questions related to obstruction of justice.

8. Sonny’s Testimony
Prosecution: The 5th Amendment essentially leaves the option to testify or not in the hands of the Defendant and his/her counsel. Prosecution cannot call Sonny to testify; however, if the Defense permits Sonny to take the stand, the Prosecution can cross-examine him regarding anything brought up during his direct testimony.

Defense: Sonny may try to force Alexis and Diane to let him testify. In this situation, strategically Diane should avoid putting Sonny on the stand unless it is absolutely necessary. The Defense would not want to open Sonny to cross-examination by the Prosecution, and the only way to avoid that would be not to put him on the stand in the first place. The other problem for Diane is ethical. Since Diane knows Sonny did not kill Claudia, she would actually be suborning perjury if she permits Sonny to testify. Of course, Alexis does not know Sonny is lying about killing Claudia, and therefore, Alexis could theoretically call Sonny to the stand without suborning perjury. Technically, if it reaches the point where Sonny insists on testifying, and Diane knows or believes Sonny is going to lie on the stand, Diane should withdraw from the case citing a professional ethical conflict, and turn the rest of the Defense over to Alexis without explanation.

9. Direct Evidence Against Sonny: Hair found on Claudia matching Sonny’s DNA - Sonny’s alleged hair found after Claudia’s body was recovered, provided the Prosecution’s only piece of evidence directly linking Sonny to Claudia’s death. This hair was the lynchpin to secure a warrant for Sonny’s arrest; however, realistically from an evidentiary perspective, this particular piece of evidence is worthless to the Prosecution for a variety of reasons. First, Sonny was Claudia’s husband, and it would not be abnormal to find his hair on her clothing. Second, Claudia’s body was handled by so many people from the time she died to the time her body was recovered, the hair could have been planted by anyone, at any time. There is no “chain of custody” to assure the integrity of this evidence. Finally, the DNA-match was done on the hair before it came to light Dante was Sonny’s son. Depending on the percentage of the “DNA-match,” the hair may also match Dante’s DNA. Any or all of these reasons may be enough to have this piece of evidence thrown out or completely discredited in the eyes of the jury.

Burden and Standard of Proof: In order for Sonny to be found guilty and go to jail, it is the Prosecution’s responsibility to demonstrate using admissible, credible evidence to prove to the jury Sonny had the means, motive, and opportunity to intentionally kill Claudia. The Prosecution must “prove” this “beyond a reasonable doubt,” not beyond ANY doubt, just beyond a REASONABLE doubt. A “reasonable doubt” is a doubt to which you can attach a reason. If even one juror has a reason to doubt the evidence presented by the Prosecution, it is their responsibility to acquit Sonny.

The Defense does not have to “prove” Sonny is innocent. Sonny is PRESUMED INNOCENT until the Prosecution can demonstrate to 12 jurors there is no reason to doubt Sonny’s guilt. If the Prosecution’s case has enough flaws to leave a “reasonable doubt” in the mind of a single juror, then the jury is obliged to find Sonny not guilty.

With the evidence currently available, a jury realistically would not find Sonny guilty of Claudia’s murder…BUT…enter Sonny, the Pig Headed One.

Self-Defense Is A Legal Game-Changer:
Recall, how vociferously Diane argued with Sonny about his decision to “plead not guilty/self-defense.” No doubt, Diane knows Sonny is making a strategic mistake tremendously complicating his defense. If Sonny simply pled “not guilty,” and did not take the stand, considering the totality of the evidence and anticipated witness testimony, the Prosecution’s case is very weak. There is room for “reasonable doubt” in many areas. If Diane did a good job on cross-examination, exposing the weaknesses in the Prosecution’s case, there is a strong likelihood, the jury would find sufficient reasonable doubt to find Sonny “not guilty” in record time and without anyone perjuring themselves.

Sonny’s pig-headed insistence on putting forth his “self-defense” scenario complicates Diane’s job on at least two fronts. As alluded to above, if Sonny persists in taking the stand and perjuring himself claiming he killed Claudia in his “self-defense” scenario, it puts Diane in a legal ethics quandary because she could be disbarred for knowingly putting a Defendant on the stand that plans to perjure himself. However, the bigger problem with claiming self-defense is it legally “shifts the burden of proof” onto the Defendant.

As discussed above, the Prosecution’s burden of proof is “beyond a reasonable doubt.” That is totally the Prosecution’s burden. The Defense has nothing to prove. However, in a situation where a Defendant claims “self-defense,” the burden of proof actually shifts or moves from the Prosecution to the Defense. With a self-defense claim, the Defense must produce evidence to prove the Defendant acted reasonably under the circumstances and with appropriate force to defend themselves or others, but no more force than necessary to thwart the attacker; in other words, the force used to defend must be “in proportion” to the imminent attack. It is only acceptable to use “deadly force” when fear is reasonable and imminent that deadly force is about to be used against you or the person(s) you are defending.

By pleading “self-defense,” Sonny is in essence admitting the Prosecution’s evidence is correct, so Sonny is effectively eliminating the easiest way for his Defense team to win the case outright because of flimsy, insufficient evidence that leaves reasonable doubt.

Let’s examine Sonny, and by extension Michael’s situation, in light of the standard of proof for a successful “self-defense” claim. Would either of them be justified in using “deadly force” against Claudia?

Michael’s Self Defense Argument: young man with known brain damage who saw his mother kidnapped at gunpoint by Claudia, whom Michael knew had a history of violence and involvement in crimes including murder and attempted murder. Michael saw Claudia behaving irrationally when she kidnapped his mother who was in labor. Michael knew Claudia had recently lost a baby. He had every reason to believe Claudia was armed and dangerous which is confirmed by the APB the PCPD put out on Claudia. Unarmed, Michael walked into a situation where his mother is screaming and crying, but unarmed and unable to defend herself having just given birth. Michael witnesses Claudia on her way out the door with a defenseless newborn infant in a basket. Michael picked up the first thing in his grasp, an ax handle, and he rushed in striking Claudia with the ax handle. Michael’s assessment of the situation was reasonable under the circumstances. He had a right to defend his mother and newborn sister. Michael did not intend to kill Claudia; he intended to stop Claudia without providing her time to use the gun he reasonably believed she possessed. Even if Michael had intended to use “deadly force,” it would have been “reasonable,” i.e. justified under the circumstances. Michael struck Claudia only once, not repeatedly, as someone out of control or acting in anger may have done. Michael may have even aimed high when hitting Claudia to avoid any chance of hitting the baby’s basket.

Sonny’s Self Defense argument would be analyzed in much the same way as Michael’s; however, Sonny’s self-defense argument is less compelling than Michael’s in a few areas. For example, Sonny would likely have arrived at the cabin with a gun that he could have used to neutralize Claudia, perhaps without even shooting. This is something the Prosecution would likely point out. In addition, Sonny has had more experience in violent, dangerous situations, and he would have been calmer and perhaps clearer in his assessment of the situation than Michael. Michael reacted on fear and adrenaline to rescue his mother and sister. Sonny may have had the presence of forethought to take command of the situation without necessitating any use of force. The other problem Sonny has with claiming “self-defense” is his public threats against Claudia earlier in the evening will be used by the Prosecution to under-cut the self-defense argument by claiming Sonny simply followed through on his prior threats.

Sonny thinks by taking responsibility and claiming self-defense, no one will ever have to know of Michael’s involvement. All Sonny really accomplishes by claiming self-defense is unnecessarily complicating his Defense team’s job and perjuring himself which could come back to bite him later when the truth inevitably comes out. By pleading “self-defense,” Sonny is admitting to killing Claudia, eliminating all of his Defense team’s arguments about the insufficiency of the Prosecution’s evidence, and eliminating the Prosecution’s burden of proving Sonny’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. Sonny’s “strategy” is unnecessarily high-risk and potentially legal suicide, but it does add an interesting twist to the story. If I were Sonny’s Defense attorney, I might take an ax handle to him myself.

Deep Thoughts — Teenagers’ and Young Adults’ Dating/Relationship Abuse! Regarding Kristina’s and Kiefer’s Unhealthy Dating Relationship…

I wrote this article in a previous blog. However, I think it’s important, once again, to talk about Teenagers’ and Young Adults’ Dating/Relationship Abuse!

GH is pointing out that teenagers and young adults today are entering into more abusive relationships. No man has the right to hit a woman or vice versa. You have listened to the news, in the past, about the relationship between Rihanna and Chris Brown in real life.

In the previous blog, I did some research about abusive relationships.
People in abusive relationships sometimes mistake abuse for intense feelings of caring or concern. Intense feelings of jealousy can seem flattering at times, but jealousy and possessiveness can be some of the first signs of abuse. Again, please learn the warning signs of unhealthy relationships... Also, watch for these signs in Kiefer’s and Kristina’s relationship.

Warning Signs of Abuse:
Taken from the Center for Relationship Abuse Awareness

The following are questions to ask youself about your relationship. If you are currently in a relationship, these are signs or "red flags" to assist people in identifying a potentially abusive person.

  • Do you feel nervous around your partner? (Yes, for Kristina)
  • Do you have to be careful to control your behavior to avoid their anger? (Yes, for Kristina)

  • Do you feel pressured by your partner when it comes to sex? (BIG YES, for Kristina)
  • Are you scared of disagreeing with your partner? (Yes, for Kristina)

  • Does your partner criticize you, or humiliate you in front of other people? (Yes, for Kristina)

  • Is your partner always checking up or questioning you about what you do without your partner? (Yes, for Kristina)

  • Does your partner repeatedly and wrongly accuse you of seeing or flirting with other people? (Yes, for Kristina)
  • Does your partner tell you that if you changed they wouldn't ‘have’ to abuse you? (Yes for Kristina)
  • Does your partner's jealousy stop you from seeing friends or family? (Yes, for Kristina with Michael, Ethan, Sam, Sonny and Carly)

  • Does your partner make you feel like you are wrong, stupid, crazy or inadequate? (Yes, for Kristina)

  • Has your partner ever scared you with violence or threatening behavior? (Yes, for Kristina)
  • Does your partner prevent you from going out or doing things you want to do? (Yes Kristina)

  • Are you expected to do things to please your partner, rather than to please yourself? (Yes, for Kristina)

  • Do you feel that, with your partner, nothing you ever do is good enough? (Yes for Kristina)

  • Does your partner say that he/she will kill or hurt you or themselves if you break up with them? (Big YES for Kristina)

  • Does your partner make excuses for behavior, for example, by saying it's because of alcohol or drugs, or because he/she can't control his/her temper, or that he/she was "just joking"? (BIG YES, for Kristina)
Kristina does not deserve to be abused nor do you.

In my opinion, if you see more than two red flags mentioned above, please get out of your relationship and move on. You will eventually find someone who cares about you and you both can have a HEALTHY dating relationship.

Also, some of your friends or family-members may see some warning signs that you don’t perceive in your relationship. As an example, you saw this in previous GH scenes when Michael warned Kristina about her relationship with Kiefer. Some of you may not want to hear it from your friends and/or family-members, but be alert!

Create a safety plan or call someone to talk to about your relationship. You may also want to contact the police or a local domestic violence center or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at (800) 799-SAFE.

Also, at the end of the General Hospital show (March 12, 2010), Lexi Ainsworth (as Kristina) was telling teenage viewers to get more information on teen dating abuse at LoveIsRespect.org or National Teen Dating Abuse Helpline | 1-866-331-9474

We hope you enjoy life and love without fear!

Thank you,
Leigh-Anne

General Hospital SPOILERS and RUMORS - Kristina Needs Help! WILL Kristina Ever Tell the Real Truth About Kiefer? – 3.15.10

Here Are Some More Spoilers, Rumors and Shockers!

Kristina’s Physical Abused Results…

After seeing a shocking clip of Kristina in our previous blog, things gets worse! Kristina accuses Ethan of abusing her… Lucky must act like a cop when he takes Ethan into custody! Will Lucky believe that Ethan is innocent of Kristina’s abuse prior to finding out the real truth about Kiefer?

For some reason Jason asks Kristina several questions about her beating. Sonny wants to go after Ethan, but Kristina begs her father not to do so. Will Luke be disturbed by Ethan’s actions toward Kristina last week? Sam’s ready to attack Ethan for the violence toward Kristina. Sam and Jason disagree about Kristina‘s dilemma… Sam tells Jason that she went through a similar situation to Kristina‘s and she has been ‘used’ by other men in her past.

Jason shares his doubts with Carly about Kristina’s relationship with Kiefer. The real question is when WILL Kristina ever tell the real truth about Kiefer‘s abuse toward her? Hopefully, Michael will realize that Kiefer has hurt his little step sis and tell someone.

Spencer/Cassadine Drama…

Lucky tells Liz that their marriage has truly ended. Will Liz accept that from him? I’m hearing that Lucky is surprised that he is the father of Liz’s baby, and he’s disappointed. Helena may be setting up some plans so that Spencer’s heir will be recognized as Cassadine.

Corinthros‘ Dilemma with Dante…

Dante is beginning to see a different side of Sonny when he witnesses that "the mobster” takes very good care of Kristina.

With or without Michael being there for his dad, Sonny’s preparation for his trial, which is in progress. How will Diane handle Sonny’s case versus Claire, the prosecutor? Dante ends up trying to find Michael on the island... Michael is tempted to tell Dante the truth about his own crime in Claudia’s death.

RUMOR: I keep hearing that… Alice (who works for the Quartermaines), Dr. Lisa Niles and Coleman (the bartender) may be three of the jurors in Sonny’s case.

Spixie’s Motion…

Maxie has been rushed to the hospital again after seeing Kate at the Crimson office. Maxie and Spinelli end up in a better place at the hospital prior to her health worsening by the minute. Also, she reassures Spinelli that she will not give up and die. Will she be having delusions of seeing her beloved sister, Georgie, in spirit soon? Let us see.

Robin is Bothered by Lisa‘s Attention…

Not to herself, but to Patrick, her husband. Patrick tries to plan a romatic moment with Robin, but, yet again, Lisa gets in the way. When will Lisa stop interrupting them?

Coming Up in the Following Week
Spinelli feels better about his relationship with “Maximista.”

Luke attempts to protect Ethan from the wrath of Sonny.

Fan Video of the Week (Week of 3/10/10)

Welcome to week two in our series of videos highlighting the most iconic families in GH history. This family started off as just one member who was brought in to town to shake things up for then most popular young adult couple in town. Before long they had taken over the town. Find out just who I'm talking about after the jump!

That's right, folks, it's the Spencer family. Long time GH fans know that it was Bobby, not Luke, who originated the Spencer family way back in the late 70's as a foil to her future sister-in-law Laura. Bobby was a typical troubled bad girl with a past who wanted a new life with the seemingly perfect Scotty Baldwin. The only thing standing in her way was his new wife Laura. Pretty soon, Bobby sent for her bad-boy older brother to help drive a wedge between Scotty and Laura, and the rest, as they say, is television history.

The Spencer blood line now runs stronger than ever. Luke has remained a staple on the show for decades, with the Emmys to prove it, and his children, Lulu, Lucky, and now Ethan, hold very prominent spots in nearly every major story line currently on the canvas. And even while being relegated to a weddings and funerals (which in Port Chuck often occur on the same day) appearance schedule, Bobby's legacy on the show lives on in her daughter, Carly Spencer Quatermaine Corinthos Corinthos Corinthos Alcazar Corinthos Jacks, and grandchildren Michael, Morgan, & Joselin. Bobby's son, Lucas Jones, is currently in college in Seattle, but her niece Maxxie Jones is also a pivotal character on the canvas and happens to be the recipient of Bobby's deceased daughter BJ's heart via an award-winning drunk drving/child-to-child heart transplant story line.

We also owe the Spencers a great thanks for being the central reason for our favorite diabolical Cassadine family to come to town, with Laura's son Nicolas Cassadine being one of the reasons they have yet to leave. They also helped revitalize the Quartermaine family on two separate occasions. The first was in the late 1990's when Bobby's daughter Carly burst onto the scene and quickly got knocked up with town drunk AJ Quartermaine, not beforing trying to break up her unsuspecting mother's marriage. Eventually she tried passing the child's father off as AJ's brother and mob enforcer Jason Morgan, and the plot lines wrote themselves for years after. The second interweaving of Spencer and Quartermaine drama was several years later when Luke conned Tracey Quartermaine into marrying him. Shortly there after, he and his almost grown-up daughter Lulu invaded the Q mansion, where Lulu took a page out of her dear old aunt's playbook and tried to break up the budding marriage of young Georgie Jones and her new half-brother Dillan! With Lucky, Lulu, and now Michael beginning to take over the town and future plans for little Cameron & Jake Spencer not far off, Port Charles surely will not have seen the end of the Spencer Tribe anytime soon.

Thanks so much this week to YouTuber IceKlutz0622 who created this truly awesome Spencer family tribute, and don't forget to check back next week to see who the next great GH family will be! As always, if anyone has any comments, suggestions, or concerns please don't hesitate to hit me up at alex@ghofs.net

General Hospital SPOILERS and RUMORS - Does the Island Sound Nice for Michael‘s Getaway? – 3.8.10

Take a Peek at the lastest Spoilers/Rumors for this Week…

Reminder:
Here are GH spoilers and rumors for upcoming weeks. General Hospital rumors are, in some cases, what is currently planned to happen on the show. In other cases they are only rumors. Some events that may be planned to take place on GH may not be due to cast changes and rewrites. Enjoy reading these blogs, but take everything “with a grain of salt.”

Here we go:

Escaping to the Island from Asking Michael‘s Stand
Even though Claire plans to call Michael to testify, Sonny agrees to letting Jason and Sam get Michael out of the country for the duration of the trial. Unfortunately, Carly hears about it, gets miffed, and ready to explode. Sonny and Jax end up having to team-up to persuade Carly and Michael that it is a good idea. Michael ends up on the island, but he doesn't want to stay. Dante gets worked-up about Michael’s disappearance and he becomes even more suspicious. Sonny gets an urge to tell Dante that Michael killed Claudia. Will Jason and Sam have trouble trying to keep secrets from Morgan, Molly and Kristina about Michael‘s getaway? Hmm, I don’t know about that!

Two Lawyers Clash Against One Lawyer
Alexis and Diane are having a hard time with Sonny’s case… They find it difficult to beat Claire.

Ethan Troubled About Kristina’s Relatitionship
Kristina has been invited to meet Kiefer’s parents. She thinks she sees why Kiefer gets violent with her. However, Alexis, Kristina’s mom, is stunned about her daughter being sexually active. What will Alexis do? Take it out on Sam?

Kristina is still angry with Ethan for rejecting her. It will drive her to blame Ethan for certain things... Will Ethan be arrested for “getting violent with her?”

Spencer/Cassidine Feud with Liz
Even though Lucky agrees to take part in Liz’s therapy, Lucky admits that he does not want to be the father of Liz‘s baby. Will Lucky's words finally get through to Liz that he hopes he is not the father of her baby? Meanwhile, Nik tries to battle off a romantic entanglement of his own. Will Liz finally accept what Nik is offering even though she refuses to be around him?

What’s up with “devious” Helena talking with the DNA Labortory man...? Do you think she plans to switch Liz’s paternity records from Lucky‘s to Nik’s or vice-versa? Let’s see!

“Spixie’s” Troubles
Spinelli's “Fair Maximista” finds out she has pneumonia. It may cause a major risk for her health (maybe it‘ll be involving her heart transplant from BJ, her cousin). Will Maxie end up seeing her sister, Georgie, as a ghost/spirit when she is recouping? Spinelli blames himself for Maxie’s illness after their plans backfired... Why?

Romance Time
There is some time for romance especially for Lulu and Dante. WhooHoo, finally!

Robin’s Miffed
Not only is Robin troubled by her step cousin’s illness, she is having “a fit” with Lisa appearing to flirt with Patrick. Hmm, I keep hearing that Patrick sees Lisa naked (shhhhh…) and then, later, they are trapped in an elevator…!!?? Holy Moley!

Coming Up Next in the Following Weeks:
Kristina blames Ethan for what happened
Lucky arrests Ethan
Jason questions Kristina
Kristina pleads with Sonny not to retaliate against Ethan
Jason and Sam disagree about Kristina

Spinelli and Maxie's relationship is stronger than ever

Fan Video of the Week (3/3/10)

What would GH be without its many dramatic and eccentric families? Over the next few weeks, we have decided to pay homage to all of the great families who have ever walked the hospital halls, many of whom's members we know better than some of our own relatives. Find out who our first featured family is after the jump!

That's right folks, our first featured family is none other than the devilishly dysfunctional Cassadine family in all their aristocratic glory. Led by matriarch and World's Worst Mother lifetime achievement award winner Helena Cassadine, this motley crew of fallen Russian aristocrats whose home base alternates between the Greek isles and the spooky Spoon Island blew into upstate New York in the early '80s and never looked back. In addition to famously trying to freeze the world with a weather machine, the family has created quite a reputation for dysfunction of the most fatal kind, with some members of the family even dying on multiple occasions! The current head of the family is Nikolas Cassadine who, though once thought to be the moral center of the family, is living up to his surname more and more everyday. Are Cassadines genetically destined to commit murder, adultery, and familial betrayal, or do the purest members of the newest generation, consisting currently of sisters Kristina Corrinthos-Davis and Molly Lansing and only child Spencer Cassadine, have a chance at becoming upstanding citizens when they grow up? Given the other side of each of their family trees, it's probably doubtful!

Thanks to YouTube user Becangle for the great Cassadine-themed video. What do you guys think about the chances of a single Cassadine not going insane? Did I forget your favorite Cassadine moment? If so, include in the comments bellow, and, as always, hit me up with any thoughts or suggestions at alex@ghofs.net
